Managing Multiple Results with the New Output Manager

April 27, 2010
INTEGRATED's applications are moving more toward providing analysis from multiple solutions, such as transient analysis and time domain analysis. For these types of applications, users will feel the need to define the kinds of calculation and output they want to see at each step before generating the solutions. This will make generating useable results work more smoothly and quickly once the ... Read More

Simulation of Large Cassegrain Reflector Fed by Point Source in SINGULA

April 27, 2010
In many reflector antenna applications, it is convenient to simulate the reflector system fed by a point source whose far field radiation pattern is same as that of the actual feed used in the application. Point sources with the user specified far zone E-field radiation patterns can be input as excitation source in SINGULA. The E-field radiation pattern of the point source can be specified in any ... Transient Analysis for Modeling Time Dependent Sources

January 18, 2010
The Transient Analysis mode available in ELECTRO, OERSTED, and KELVIN has the capability to create virtually any desired time dependent source with a library of Standard signals, an algebraic Function editor, and the ability to read in Tables from text files. Read more

The Benefits of Having Both BEM and FEM in the Same Program

January 18, 2010
The question is often asked "Which is the better technology: Boundary Element Method or Finite Element Method?" The answer to this question depends on the problem you are solving. For some problems, BEM has huge advantages over FEM and the opposite can be said as well. The best way to look at this is to review both methods for electric, magnetic, and thermal calculations. The Release of Version 8.0

We are proud to announce the release of our new SINGULA V8.0, COULOMB V8.0, AMPERES V8.0, FARADAY V8.0, MAGNETO V8.0 ELECTRO V8.0, OERSTED V8.0, KELVIN V8.0, CELSIUS V8.0, and LORENTZ V8.0. We have accomplished a number of new, important improvements and we would like to share them with you. Read more

SINGULA: Luneberg-lens Antenna

July 8, 2009
In this benchmark example, we will study a hemi-spherical Luneberg-lens antenna with a finite ground plane. The Luneberg-lens antenna has many advantages over the conventional parabolic antenna systems. Read More

The Problem of Coil Inductance with Nonlinear Core Material

Doug Craigen, PhD
Integrated Engineering Software

May 21, 2009
The concept of inductance of a coil has proven very useful in a variety of applications. A simple measurement of the inductance permits a variety of predictions including: Read More

Coupling Thermo-Electric Fields

Bruce Klimpke, Technical Director
Integrated Engineering Software

May 21, 2009
As computer power continues to increase, and software algorithms advance, the demand for more complex simulations continues to increase. The need to improve product reliability and reduce manufacturing costs is driving the demand for accurate and complex simulations. Read More

SINGULA: Simulating and analyzing large phased array antennas

April 2, 2009
SINGULA can simulate large phased array antennas. These can be used for electronic steering of the beams. Considering the mutual coupling between any two elements of the array, estimating the radiation characteristics of the large arrays leads to very complex model. Read More

32 Bit versus 64 Bit System Benchmark

March 11, 2009
Models with a large number of elements produce very large matrices. The biggest single issue for the solution time as models become very large is how efficiently the software and operating system are able to use memory required for these matrices. Read More

Using Anisotropic Materials in SINGULA

January 9, 2009
In some passive microwave devices, ferrite cores are used to provide the rotation of the field required to achieve the phase shifting that makes the device work. Devices such as circulators, isolators, gyrators and phase shifters work on a range of frequencies based on the properties and size of the ferrite material and the size of the waveguide in which it is contained. The release of version 7.0

November 3, 2008
We are very proud to announce the release of a new version of our software, v7.0. We have accomplished a number of new, great improvements and we would like to share them with you.

We want to make sure that you are aware of the many major and minor enhancements in our program, which now includes: Read More

Permanent Magnet Simulation Benchmark

September 25, 2008
This benchmark combines a couple of simple well known cases to create a model with an analytic result, yet which is challenging enough to distinguish the relative capabilities of different simulation software for a class of real permanent magnet simulations. "Next Step" solution refinement builds confidence in your results

August 28, 2008
One of the most important questions that are raised when using any analysis software is "Do I have enough elements for an accurate solution?" In addition to simplify the number of elements on a model, it is useful to be able to concentrate the elements where the field gradients are highest to ensure that computation is not wasted in regions where very little is happening. To a large degree, the self-adaptive feature of Integrated solvers addresses this question. Read More

Eddy current windings model skin and proximity effects in AC coil

July 25, 2008
In many AC coils conductor current density is not uniformly distributed because of skin and proximity effects. OERSTED now provides users the ability to assign Eddy Current Windings to accurately simulate these effects. Below we show the Eddy Current Windings submenu. Read More

Transient Eddy Current Solver

July 9, 2008

For some applications, like induction heating, the current distribution within the coils will be a function of time. These type of problems require a general time dependent Eddy current solver. This feature will be available in the latest version of OERSTED V7.0 due for release this month.

A variety of predefined wave forms are available such as sinusodial sources with a DC offset and various square wave and triangular pulses. Like all new features, we expect significant feedback from our customers to enhance this new class of problem that can now be solved.
